The right AWS partner turns a stressful migration into a smooth transition. Beyond just moving off legacy systems, they give you actual control over your cloud spending and ensure your architecture can handle modern AI tools without breaking a sweat.
In this ranking we compared AWS cloud modernization and implementation companies based on partnership validation, modernization approach, cost governance, industry experience, and delivery model. It’s designed to help you identify the best fit rather than the biggest name.
A QUICK SUMMARY – FOR THE BUSY ONES
The best AWS cloud migration and modernization company depends on the scale and focus of your transformation. STX Next is well suited to regulated mid-market and enterprise companies modernizing cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and AI capabilities together; Caylent is a strong fit for organizations looking for deep AWS-native engineering; while SoftServe is better suited to large, multi-region enterprise transformation programmes. When comparing providers, look at AWS expertise, modernization approach, cost governance, compliance, industry experience, and delivery model.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
We set out to answer a single practical question: which AWS partners do organizations trust to genuinely modernize production estates, rather than just migrate workloads and walk away? We looked past simple badge counts, focusing instead on partners with validated AWS expertise and a proven track record of controlling cost and risk post-launch.
Every company on this list earned its spot through demonstrated delivery maturity, deep AWS alignment, and a commitment to true modernization over simple lift-and-shift.
To make the cut, partners had to meet most of the following criteria:
STX Next is a European AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner and certified MAP partner, currently completing the technical AWS Migration Capability Review (scored on delivered projects, not proposals).
Approach & methodology STX Next openly rejects plain lift-and-shift ("moving a bad architecture to AWS relocates the problem to a more expensive address"). Their audited four-step methodology (Analyze, Prepare, Engage, Execute) covers:
Best for:
Mid-market and enterprise organizations in regulated industries that want seamless MAP funding acquisition and need to modernize their data layer alongside infrastructure.
Key strengths:
Compliance & security ISO 27001, TISAX, GDPR, hybrid DevOps for financial institutions, and support for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.

When evaluating AWS partners, look beyond sales pitches and marketing badges. Focus on these eight critical factors:
There is no single best AWS modernization company for every organization. STX Next is a strong fit for regulated companies that need to modernize cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and AI foundations together; Brainhub is particularly well suited to fintechs, banks, and digital businesses modernizing customer-facing applications; Caylent stands out for deep AWS-native engineering; SoftServe fits large, multi-region enterprise transformation programmes; and Future Processing is relevant when long-term cloud operations and cost control are the priority.
The most useful way to compare AWS migration and modernization partners is to start with the transformation problem. Application modernization, data platform modernization, FinOps, compliance, AI readiness, and post-migration operations require different strengths, so the best fit depends on what part of the technology estate needs to change and how much support is required after migration.
It depends far more on the complexity and state of your legacy architecture than on the partner's hourly rates. What you should lock down up front is financial accountability: the projected post-migration monthly AWS bill, who owns that estimate, and what happens if real costs exceed projections. Additionally, eligible projects can offset upfront costs significantly through AWS funding programs.
Yes. The AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) offers financial support across three distinct phases:
Funding applies per workload. An existing AWS client can still qualify for isolated database or legacy application moves. The real differentiator between partners is whether they handle the heavy lifting (TCO modeling, business case submission, and fund acquisition) on your behalf.
Premier signals massive enterprise scale, but Advanced partners often offer higher flexibility and senior team focus. Tier alone does not guarantee fit for a specific project.
For specific workloads, absolutely. An AWS Competency proves Amazon has formally audited actual client projects delivered by that partner. A Financial Services or Migration Competency provides far stronger validation of relevant domain experience than a general Premier badge.
If your destination platform is already 100% AWS, an AWS-exclusive partner usually offers deeper platform engineering and specialized knowledge. If you manage a mixed estate or need unbiased architectural advice on where workloads belong (AWS vs. Azure vs. GCP), a multi-cloud partner is the better fit.
For initial discovery and advisory work, it makes little difference. However, during active modernization and build phases, lacking a 3+ hour daily overlap window creates decision bottlenecks that delay delivery. Always evaluate time zone overlap based on where the hands-on engineering team is located, not where the firm is headquartered.
